Fall 2017: Upcoming Concerts

Please join us for two concerts in celebration of the centennial of the birth of West Coast composer Lou Harrison (

The first will feature works that incorporate classical instruments with the gamelan, including Harrison's "Double Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Javanese Gamelan," with David Felberg on violin and James Holland on cello. This concert will be on Sunday, Nov. 19th at 10:30am at Las Puertas, 1512 1st Street NW, Albuquerque, as part of the Sunday Chatter series ( Admission is $15, please go to the Chatter website to purchase tickets (and these concerts often sell out, so get your tickets early). Doors open at 9:30am, come and enjoy the espresso!

The second concert will be an "all gamelan" program of Lou's work, and will include a screening of the biographical film, "Lou Harrison: Cherish, Conserve, Consider, Create" (1986, dir. Eric Marin). This event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2nd from 4:00-6:00pm at Form and Concept Gallery, located at 435 South Guadalupe Street in Santa Fe's Railyard District ( Admission is $15 ($25 for preferred seating for the film screening). All proceeds will benefit Equality New Mexico, a non-profit organization that supports the local LGBTQ community (Lou was an outspoken advocate of gay rights, as well as an ardent pacificist and environmentalist). Tickets for this event can be prepurchased (and seating reserved), and additional donations in Lou's memory can be made through the EQNM website (
