Two opportunities to hear gamelan this Spring will be available at the Chatter Performance Spaces in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

The concerts will feature the work of California composer Maria Siino, with a special performance of her "Santa Fe Suite" which was written while she was in residence in NM in 2016. The composer will be present to talk about her work and experience of gamelan first at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design and then at Mills College and the University of California, Berkeley.

Other works by K.R.T. Wasitodiningrat (known affectionately by his students as "Pak Chokro"), and by Lou Harrison and Daniel Schmidt, two composers and instrument builders that studied with Pak Chokro in California in the 1970s and 1980s, will also be performed.

The Santa Fe concert will be on Saturday, May 9th at 2 pm at the Center for Contemporary Arts, 1050 Old Pecos Trail.

The Albuquerque concert will be on Sunday, May 10th at 2 pm at the Chatter Space, 912 3rd Street NW.

Admission for each concert is $20/$10 under 18. Tickets available at the door only.
